Eduroam upgrade on Android devices

Due to the varying models of Android phones, the number of active versions and the cosmetic differences between manufacturers, there are a number of ways in which eduroam can be set up on your phone.

As a result, the instructions may vary slightly from device to device.

When initially setting up eduroam on your phone, you would either have set it up manually, or set it up using eduroam’s Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT)

  • If you set it up manually, there’s a chance that you may not need to change your settings at all.
  • If you set it up with the eduroam CAT, you will need to change your settings. please read the "Android" section in eduroam: Wi-Fi network upgrade (search for wifiupgrade) before proceeding.

If you don’t know or can’t remember how you set it up, it may be advisable to wait until the location you are based in has been changed over. You can find this information on the “Eduroam certificate replacement” section on the Networks Modernisation schedule .

While this means that you may temporarily lose access to the eduroam network, you will still be able to connect to Wi-Fi using the UoM_WiFi network and log in through your web browser as a temporary workaround, until eduroam is fully set up on your device.
