2-factor authentication

An extra layer of IT security which requires you to verify your identity when you log in. As well as your username and password, 2-factor authentication requires that you have an authentication device in your possession allowing you to respond with a tap or a code as you login.

We are using a company called Duo to provide our 2-factor authentication service.

Features

  • The University IT Account Manager offers self-service options to manage your authentication method and devices.
  • The IT Support Centre also offers management of your authentication method and devices. They are also able to issue a Duo key fob if you do not have a smartphone and therefore cannot authenticate in the usual way.

Eligibility

All University staff and students are eligible for this service, should they require it to access protected systems and services.

Service Level Agreement (SLA)

We aim to respond to service requests within one working day and to resolve your query/request within ten working days. If your request is considered to be a priority when triaged by our IT Support Centre, the response time will be adjusted accordingly.
