About the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The Computer Emergency Response Team offers:

  • central reporting point for security incidents;
  • advice on matters of computer security;
  • liaison with other CERT teams - sharing information about vulnerabilities, prevention methods and incidents; and
  • a mailing list for general discussion of security matters. Please do not post sensitive information on this mailing list:

Vulnerability alert service

We currently subscribe to a service by Secunia which sends us advisory notices of known security vulnerabilies for the products that we use. We then forward these advisories through the following mailing list.

JANET - Research and education network

Our team works particularly closely with JANET, the UK's research and education network. The JANTE website is an invaluable collection of information about various aspects of computer security.
