Disposal and reuse of IT equipment

We ensure that all IT equipment is dealt with in a sustainable manner with maximum benefit to the University and the environment.

Our IT Lifecycle Team collects, services and redistributes redundant IT equipment across the University. We also arrange for the disposal of IT items that cannot be reused.

If you have unused or unwanted IT equipment please fill in the Hardware Disposal form to arrange collection:

You must always dispose of storage securely. If you have a hard drive or other small item of data storage, you can take it to B29 Pariser Building or the IT Support Centre in Kilburn building, where it will be securely wiped.

Types of equipment

Any type of IT related equipment can be disposed of via these arrangements, including:

  • desktop computers;
  • keyboards and mice;
  • laptops, PDAs and tablet computers;
  • printers, scanners, copiers and multi-functional devices;
  • servers;
  • networking equipment;
  • data and power cabling; and
  • equipment housings and rack systems.
