Copilot
Microsoft's Copilot refers to a variety of Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered tools that help people in different contexts and are integrated into various Microsoft products to help with tasks ranging from web searches to productivity enhancements and customised business processes. The primary goal of Copilot is to boost productivity and creativity through AI capabilities.
The University has announced a strategic collaboration with Microsoft, making Manchester the world’s first university to deploy equitable Microsoft 365 Copilot access and training across its entire community.
This means 65,000 colleagues and students will benefit from the full Microsoft 365 Copilot suite, including Researcher and Analyst agents, and productivity apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with Copilot built in. The deployment will support learning, research and professional work, positioning Manchester at the forefront of responsible, large-scale adoption of artificial intelligence tools in higher education.
The roll out of licenses will be phased and implementation planning is now underway. This is moving at pace and further details, and next steps, will be released soon.
Copilot Chat is available to everyone at the University of Manchester. It is a powerful tool that you can use today to develop your skills, enabling you to make the most of any Copilot in the future. Remember to log in with your University account to ensure that your conversation is protected.
