Disposal of unwanted IT equipment
The University has a locally negotiated contract for the correct disposal of IT waste.
Contact the IT Service Desk on 0161 306 5544 to arrange for the collection and disposal of unwanted items.
For other electrical items that require collection/disposal, please visit the sustainability website or leave a message with your contact details for the Campus Cleansing Unit on x52246 (24 hr answer-phone)
Disposal of used printer toner and inkjet cartridges
The Directorate of Estates has arrangements in place for the recycling of both toner and inkjet cartridges.
Toner and Inkjet Cartridges
Toner and inkjet cartridges can be recycled by placing them in clear plastic bags (maximum of 5 toner cartridges per bag.)
Recycling bags are available from House Services or from the Waste Co-ordinator on x65963.
Please leave the bags at your local blue bag/office paper collection point where they will be collected by the Campus Cleansing Unit.
Please return toner cartridges in the original packing where possible, to protect the cartridge. Packaging will also be recycled by the University's contractor, 'OfficeGreen'.
Inkjet Cartridges
Inkjet cartridges can also be recycled at one of the 3 printer cartridge recycling bins located at the following locations:
- 1st floor of JRUL Main Library
- Joule Library Entrance, Sackville Building
- University Place, Ground Floor
