Insurance, lost or faulty devices

Insurance

Insurance isn't automatically added as it is now considered to be too expensive to be worthwhile, but if you do want to insure your device, please see the following information for details and contact the IT Directorate Support Office to arrange.

Warranty period

All devices are covered by a 24-month warranty period. Further details on repair and replacement costs to out of warranty devices can be found in the Device pricelist.

Lost mobile phones

Please report immediately to one of the following:

Faulty mobile phones

All mobile phones are covered by a manufacturer's warranty for the first year after purchase. If the mobile phone becomes defective due to a manufacturing fault during the warranty period, Vodafone will swap it for a like-for-like second-hand replacement mobile phone free of charge. If it becomes defective outside of the warranty period then this type of replacement will be chargeable.

Accidental damage

All physically or water damaged mobile phones are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty but will be replaced free of charge, if insured, or by chargeable 'swap out' if not insured.

Faulty accessories

Accessories are covered by a manufacturer's warranty for one year from the date of purchase and will be replaced free of charge if they become defective during this time.
