VPN Connection for iPhone
Note: iPhone and iPod Touch users will require firmware version 2.0 which is available via iTunes
Connecting to the University VPN service from your iPhone or iPod touch does not require any software downloads as the Cisco IPSec VPN client is built in to firmware 2.0
The steps below should guide you through the menu system:
- On the Home screen tap 'Settings'
- Tap 'General'
- Tap 'Network'
- Tap 'VPN'
- Tap 'Add VPN Configuration...'
- You will see 3 options at the top of the screen. You should select 'IPSec'
- Once in the IPSec settings page enter the details below:
- Description: UoM VPN
- Server: vpn-gateway.mcc.ac.uk
- Account: your username
- Password: your password
- Group Name: iphone
- secret: uomiphone
- Tap 'Save' at the top of the screen
- Slide the VPN slider to 'On'
- Once connected you should see the letters VPN in the top menu bar of your device
- To turn the VPN on and off just go to Settings and set the VPN slider to 'On'
