Connecting to VPN
In order to connect to the VPN service:
- Open the VPN client; under Windows for example, go to Start > All Programs > Cisco Systems VPN Client and click the VPN Client
- Select the relevant profile (in most cases, you will just need to click on the Connection Entry labelled general)
- Click Connect
- Enter your central services username and password.
- A banner will appear stating if you have been successful.
- A 'padlock' icon will then appear in the bottom right toolbar.
- You are now connected.
- Open an Internet browser or your application as usual. It will work just as if you have plugged your computer into a network socket on the University campus.
NOTE: all network traffic will pass over the VPN tunnel ('split-tunnelling' is globally disabled at the server side). If you have a local network at home, you most likely won't be able to access it whilst connected to our VPN service.
