For University Security dial 69966 internally, 0161 306 9966 externally
For Fire, Police or Ambulance dial 9999.

My phone has gone dead what do I do?
In the first instance plug in another handset if available, wait 15-20 seconds. If you still have a dead line then report as a fault to the Telecoms Office.
How do I identify my handset type?
Each model of handset is identified on the back with a sticker indicating the model type, for example, Siemens Optipoint Entry (the 'Optipoint Entry' part being the model type)
How do I order equipment or make changes to my telephone service?
We can only accept instructions from your departmental TLO or Head of Department, in the first instance please discuss your telephony requirements with them.
What does TLO stand for?
TLO stands for 'Telecoms Liaison Officer' - this is a nominated person within your department who acts as a point of contact with the Telecoms Office.
How do I dial an outside line?
Dial 9 before the external numberDo I need to dial a '9' before dialling a short code?
When using a short code to dial a mobile phone or another university etc, there is no need to dial the 9 before the short code.
How do I forward my phone to voicemail?
Please refer to the instructions for your type of handset in the Call Forwarding pages of our website.
How do I activate my alternative greeting?
Firstly dial into voicemail and record your alternative greeting by using option 3 then 2 from the menu. To activate and deactivate please contact the Telecoms Office when required.
My mailbox light is on but there are no messages how do I clear it?
This usually means a callback has been set against your phone.
To cancel on phones with display, press the mailbox key and the details will be displayed. Press the RIGHT ARROW key until 'delete?' is displayed and then press the TICK key. Replace handset and the light should now go off.
To cancel on non-display phones, pick up handset and dial #0. Replace handset and the light should now go off.
