IT Services

Information for graduates and leavers

If you’re moving on from the University, there are some changes to the services you’ll be able to access.

Your IT account

Your University IT account will close after your studies have finished. For those of you leaving this summer, your IT account will close on Wednesday 31 July and there will be changes to the services you can access. You may want to save any important files and emails in advance of this date. Also, don’t forget to return any books to the Library if you still have them!

If your studies are continuing past July, you will retain access to your IT account until the end of your course.

If you need temporary access to your IT account after this date, telephone the IT Support Centre on 0161 306 5544.

Office 365, including your University email address (

You will no longer have access to the Office 365 software suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive and your University email. You should forward or transfer any emails you want to keep to a non-University email account.

My Manchester and Blackboard

Once your account is closed, you won’t be able to access your Blackboard course materials or the services provided by My Manchester.

Personal network storage space (P: drive)

You should save any files you want to keep from your personal network storage space (P: drive) to an alternative location.

Visit the Graduation website to find out about how you can plan for your graduation day.

Services available to you

After you graduate, you’ll automatically become a member of the University’s global community of 480,000 alumni - the largest of any campus-based university in the UK. Alumni receive free access to Library e-resources like JSTOR and the Manchester Network, the online advice service.

The Manchester Network lets you get ahead as you search for the perfect career by connecting you with fellow alumni around the world who want to offer advice, work experience and even jobs to people like you. The University will email you an exclusive invite to join the Manchester Network shortly after you graduate.

You can continue to use the full range of services at the Careers Service for two years after the end of your course, including CareersLink for vacancies and events. You can also contact the Careers Service if you would like to discuss how they can help, or to book an appointment:

Staying on?

If you have applied for further study at the University using a University email address, you should contact your new school support office to change your application to a personal email address as soon as possible, as once you have finished your current course you will be unable to access your University email.

If you have any urgent IT queries before your account expires, we advise you to call us on 0161 306 5544 before 31 July.

All the best for the future!
