Passwords
Remember that your password is the main key protecting the security of your account which ensures that only authorised users can access the University's IT facilities. This prevents abuse of the facilities and also ensures that your stored data and information is kept private and secure. By using the following guidelines you will ensure that your passwords are difficult to guess or compromise.
Passwords MUST be a minimum of 10 characters long (preferably 10-16 if possible) and include at least 2 numbers, as well as a special character (eg: !, #, %, etc).
- See Password policy and choosing your password for full details
If you already have a University password and wish to change it, or have it re-set; please see Change your password or Forgotten your password?
Useful Tip
A good method for creating secure, yet memorable passwords is to construct a phrase which you can remember. Use the first letter from each word in the phrase to form the base which can be further modified to create your password.
For example: the phrase "Choosing Passwords Which Are Complex And Difficult To Guess Is Not So Hard!" becomes CPWACADTGINSH! which can then be modified to give: cPWaCad2giN5h!
