Shared area management

This service, provided by IT Services Field Support, offers users advice, guidance and technical support on using the shared SAN storage service.


  • Advice on good practice for file and folder organisation
  • Support on the structure and procedure for creating a new shared folder
  • Guidance with security and information management
  • Support on shared folder permissions, groups and access rights
  • Information on the rationalisation and migration of data to other systems
  • Data type scan and audit report


All members of University staff and bespoke customers are eligible to use this service.

Service Level Agreement (SLA)

We aim to respond to service requests within one working day and to resolve your query/request within ten working days. If your request is considered to be a priority when triaged by our IT Support Centre, the response time will be adjusted accordingly.


This service is available 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
