Inventory Management Project

The University of Manchester is currently in the process of implementing an asset management project using Centennial Discovery.

For Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 2003 Server systems

For UNIX and OS X Platforms

Installation Instructions for UNIX Clients

1) Copy the relevant tar.gz file along with the xferwan.ini, client.xml and kc_pub.pem files to a folder on the target computer.

2) Unpack the .tar.gz file using the gunzip and tar utilities. For example
 - gunzip mpclient_hpux_parisc.tar.gz
 - tar -xf mpclient_hpux_parisc.tar

3) In the newly created directory: mpclient_hpux_parisc:
 - copy xferwan.ini, client.xml and kc_pub.pem files to mpcclient_hpux_parisc
 - change into mpclient_hpux_parisc

4) Execute the deploy.sh script that was contained in the .tar.gz file. You will need to make sure the script file has the "execute" attribute. For example:
 - chmod +x deploy.sh

Installation Instructions for OS X Clients

1) Copy mpclient_osx.tar.gz to a folder on the target computer.

2) Double-click mpclient_osx.tar.gz to extract its contents into a folder called mpclient_osx

3) Copy xferwan.ini , client.xml and kc_pub.pem into the mpclient_osx folder.

4) Execute the deploy.sh script within that folder. You will need to make sure that the script has the "execute" attribute.  For example: - chmod +x deploy.sh

5) The files xferwan, cagent and disco need the execute attribute set. Use chmod to set the attribute.  For example: chmod uog+x /usr/centennial/audit/agent 

Note: When installing the OSX client the user needs to have root access authority.
