Securely accessing University data with Microsoft Intune

We access University services on many different devices; desktop computers, laptops, smartphones and tablets. Sometimes we prefer to use our own equipment, but this comes with a responsibility to keep University information safe and secure.

If, for example, a phone is lost or a tablet is stolen, this can have very serious consequences for the University’s data. Though we don’t expect you to stop using your device, you must ensure the data on this device is secure.

You will need to use the Microsoft Intune app if you’re accessing highly restricted data from a mobile device. Like most other apps, it is available from the Apple App Store, Google Play or Windows store.

With Intune, your work data is encrypted, so it can be isolated and protected from other activity on your phone or mobile device. If your device does end up in the wrong hands, you can at least ensure your information can be remotely wiped.

And don’t worry – because we care about your privacy, the app keeps your personal and work information separate.
