The Directorate of IT Services is made up of a number of teams. An outline of these is below.

IT Business Partners

Our IT Business Partners manage the strategic relationship between our customers and our central IT Teams.

Our IT Business Partners play a key role in initiating projects, engaging with customers and identifying future IT requirements for the University. Their is an IT Business Partner aligned to each of the core University areas of:

  • Teaching, Learning and Students
  • Research and Innovation
  • Services and Facilities

Service Delivery and Infrastructure

Responsible for:

  • Network and security
  • Service delivery
    • Central support
    • Field Support
  • Infrastructure
  • Capacity and availability
  • Service transition and change

Office of the Director of IT (formerly Performance Improvement and Reporting)

Responsible for:

  • Continuous improvement and reporting
  • Administration
  • Marketing and communications
  • IT Training
  • IT Risk
  • Resource management

Research IT

A specialist unit providing dedicated support to University wide research activities, they are responsible for:

  • Computationally Intensive Research (CIR) support and development
  • Research software engineering
  • Research applications and optimisation
  • External relationship management

Applications Development and Maintenance

Responsible for:

  • Development, mainatenance and support of IT applications


Responsible for:

  • Project delivery
    • Project management
    • Systems development
    • Testing
  • The project management office (PMO)

Strategy, Security and Architecture

Ensures consistency across:

  • IT security
  • Enterprise and data architecture
  • Business applications architecture
  • Infrastructure architecture
  • Supplier management and procurement
